Introduction

    Dylan Thomas was one of the 20th century's greatest poets. He was born in Wales in 1914 and died in New York in 1953 aged just 39. His most famous works include Under Milk Wood, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, Adventures in the Skin Trade, and A Child's Christmas in Wales. Towards the end of his life Thomas toured the USA, performing his works before sell out audiences at colleges and universities.

    Dylan Thomas: Return Journey is Anthony Hopkins' interpretation of those legendary lectures starring Bob Kingdom. This one man show has toured the USA including a season off Broadway, London, Jerusalem, Amsterdam, Vienna, Seville, Istanbul, Sydney and practically every town and village in Wales. It is developed from the stories, poems and anecdotes of Thomas, whose lifestyle became almost as legendary as his beautiful lush poetry.

    The film features the poems and stories Fern Hill, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, A Poem In October, Death Shall Have No Dominion, Return Journey and A Story.

    The production was made originally as the Christmas Day Special for the British Satellite Broadcasting. It has been shown on BBC Wales and on Bravo Cable in the USA.
