Fred
Trueman OWZAT!
An audio book out now
The legendary Fred Trueman O.B.E. was one of the fastest bowlers ever to
play for both Yorkshire and England. He was the first man in history to
take 300 test wickets, taking a total of 307 in 67 tests in which he played.
Fred has since become a commentator of cricket for BBC Radio and one
of Britain's most sought after sports entertainers travelling the world
performing his show of jokes and anecdotes.
He is a master of the instant epigram, the stinging one-liner and a superb
story-teller.
This tape will raise a laugh from anyone who enjoys the company of a
leading sports racontauer.
Essential listening for all cricket lovers. "Really
takes one back to the days when cricket was cricket ... lots of wonderful
tales of the past greats of the stumps. I really enjoyed Freddy and would
urge all cricket fans and those who just like a good laugh to get this
tape."
Rob Marshall - Bradenton, Florida, USA
Fred Trueman: OWZAT! has Fred at
his very best and bluntest. The stories include Fred's early life and
how he started to play; his first matches, playing for Yorkshire and then
for England. He tells us of some of the characters from the great games
of cricket - Hopper Levitt, Alec Skelding, Frank "Typhoon" Tyson, Emmet
Robinson, Ian Botham as well as his hilarious experience playing cricket
against India, the West Indies, the Gentlemen of Cambridge and many other
stories.
Message
from Fred
"Since I finished playing cricket I have been all over Britain performing
my show. I've made this audio tape to reach an even larger audience around
the world, to those people who, like me, love the game. Over the years I
have heard so many wonderful stories that I think should be recorded before
they get lost.
Yes, I want to make a bob or two selling this tape, especially as in
my day all we got for playing in test matches was 50 quid. But at the
same time I want to preserve a bit of cricket history.
If you buy my tape I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, keep
your mouth shut. If you really like it get in touch and I will
make sure your comments are put on this page."

James Herriot's Yorkshire
James
Herriot was the world's most famous and best loved veterinary surgeon
whose books sold 50 million copies. Fred Trueman features in the
books as himself. Alf Wight - Herriot's real name - was an enormous fan
of Fred's and loved the game of cricket. His best selling travel book James
Herriot's Yorkshire has now been made into a film and is available on
video.
Christopher Timothy, the actor who played James Herriot in one of
the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)/PBS's most popular TV series
All Creatures Great and Small, introduces this highly successful
video with a personal tribute and unique insight to the Yorkshire vet who
sadly died on 23 February 1995.
