"This film was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I not only present and narrate it but I was the co-producer and co-screenwriter.

The subject was of course one that is very close to my heart. Alf Wight, the real James Herriot who I portrayed for 13 years on television, was a man I greatly respected and admired and was fortunate to have as a friend.

Whilst filming All Creatures Great And Small I got great pleasure showing my children and friends around the Yorkshire that has now become known as 'Herriot Country'.

Now, with this video it gives me equal pleasure to show the viewer around the countryside that, like Alf, I have also fallen in love with."
