TERENCE RYAN (Director/ Screenwriter)
Terence Ryan studied at the London Film School. His diploma
film was the short feature, HOPKINS dramatising the life
of the poet Gerald Manley Hopkins. It was nominated at BAFTA
for the Grierson Award and won the Best Short Film at the
Cork Film Festival.
The first Television series Terence produced, which he also
wrote and directed, was THE GAME with Sir Matt Busby for
HTV. He followed this with the seven-part television series,
THE POET IN THE LANDSCAPE for the BBC. His first television
film was ACHILL starring Cyril Cusack.
He formed Opix Films and over the next twelve years his
company made over 100 films and television programs. These
included: The two series WHO MATTERS and WE MATTER co-produced
with Thames Television, which won awards at BISFA and the
San Francisco Television Festival, the Eric Sartes SOCRATES,
starring James Mason for C4 / S4C, and the African feature
AQUD for Duo Film GMBH, and the ten-part series THE BEAUTIFUL
GAME for the BBC.
Terence produced two musical films. THE GEORGIANS for Goldcrest
/ BBC and Wayne Sleep’s DASH for HBO / Opix Films.
He wrote and directed comedy films: starring Jasper Carrott,
THE ROWDIES for LWT, "Del Sol" for LWT, and "American
Carrott" for HBO starring Billy Connelly TO THE NORTH
OF KATMANDU starring Max Boyce, "The Dallas Cowboys" for
BBC and the series THE RODEO for the BBC.
Terence’s feature film credits for production and
direction include: GOING HOME a World War I feature drama
which was nominated for Best Director and Best Film at the
Canadian Gemini Awards; HEAVEN ON EARTH, winner of the Huston
Film Festival, starring R.H. Thompson; HOLD MY HAND I'M DYING
(titled Blind Justice in the USA) starring Patrick Shy, Christopher
Cazanove and Oliver Reed; the silent comedy THE BIG FREEZE
starring Bob Hoskins, Spike Milligan, Sir John Mills and
the World War II romantic adventure THE BRYLCREEM BOYS starring
Gabriel Byrne, Bill Campbell, William McNamara, Angus MacFadyen,
Joe McGann and John Gordon Sinclair and Jean Butler.
Ken Tuohy (Producer)
Ken over the years has worked on a large number of projects
including AMADEUS, NIL BY MOUTH, RICHARD II, QUADROPHINIA
and HEAVENS GATE. He has previously worked with Terence Ryan
on OWAIN – PRINCES OF WALES, GOING HOME, THE BIG FREEZE
and AMERICAN CARROT.
Peter Hannan (Director of Photography)
Peter has established himself over the years as one of the
UK’s leading cinematographers. His credits include – BLADE
ON THE FEATHER, THE MISSIONARY, MONTY PYTHON’S MEANING
OF LIFE, DANCE WITH A STRANGER, HALF MOON STREET, WITHNAIL
AND I, A HANDFUL OF DUST, LONGITUDE, THE GATHERING STORM.
Rainer Mockert (Executive Producer)
Rainer began his career at the Kirsch Group, where he served
as Executive Producer for many of their film and TV productions.
He later worked for Jugend Film and Multimedia as Executive
Producer and in 1998 founded the MBP Group, which has produced
13 feature films and 7 TV series, including the award-winning
LANTANA, Istvan Szabo’s TAKING
SIDES, Fred Schepisi’s
LAST ORDERS, the animated feature A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the
Spike Milligan classic PUCKOON, as well as an IMAX film,
HORSES.
Brooks Riley (Executive Producer)
Brooks was a former film critic and screenwriter, was an
editor at FILM COMMENT magazine and has written for The New
York Times, The Village Voice, The Boston Phoenix, Opera
News and the Washington Post. In 1998, she co-founded MBP
with Rainer Mockert, and is in charge of MBP’s projects
and development as well as serving as Executive Producer
on MBP’s recent films.
