| THE SERPENT'S KISS | CREDITS |
Greta Scacchi
"My character's name is Juliana and she is the wife and the mother. She is very
much a character in herself but she is also in a bit of a predicament. The predicament
is accentuated by the fact that the film is set 300 years ago at a time of more
restrictions on social behaviour. It takes place in a large, sad house in the
middle of nowhere with no society".
When she first read the script of THE SERPENT'S KISS she was delightfully surprised
by its unique style.
"I've never worked on a film like this where there's nothing black and white about
the script. It's a bit like life in a way, with all its ambiguities. My character
might seem to be flirtatious or suggestive or she might be giving signals that
she would like to be seduced, but in reality that would not be what she wanted.
As in life, people don't always say things because they've thought the whole thing
out. Although it's set in 1699, it's a very modern story".
